The Lovely Tunic Project!

So, a couple weeks ago, I completed the most involved, intimidating project I've ever worked on! My mother in law was going to Israel (and is currently there- I'm anxious for pics of her wearing it) and needed tops that were modest due to safety issues. I searched for ideas for simple peasant tops, but ended up finding this lovely Amy Butler Liverpool Tunic pattern from Necklets, an Etsy shop that had a great deal on the pattern! Although it was so intimidating to me, I jumped right in and found it to not be too hard! The pattern was well-written, understandable, and had lots of pictures! :)

Here are some pictures of the finished product. I wish they wouldn't turned out better! We should've taken them earlier in the day. But this will at least give you an idea!

I overcame many on my sewing fears and became a stronger person through it, plus I learned so many techniques (making a collar, button holing, french seams, etc). I seriously feel so much more capable as a seamstress and willing to try projects I would have avoided before! In my mind, the ultimate project would be a quilt! But that will be a project for way later, not because I'm scared, but because it would be a serious undertaking!

I'm already ready to make more of these lovely tunics! I've had a couple people already ask about them, and I'm planning to make myself a cute tunic for this summer. Wouldn't it look adorable with some leggings and flip flops?!?

What's would be "ultimate" project to you? What's the most intimidating/hardest project you've ever completed?

Naptime Craft-Along {pom pom bib necklace}

Welcome to our very first Naptime Craft-Along!
{We gave you a sneak peak + a supplies list this past weekend, so that you could be ready!}

Does this mean if you don’t have kids or if your kids aren't napping you can't craft with us? No! (Our kids often refuse naps on afternoons we craft!) Naptime Craft-Along is our catchy little title for this new blog series we're starting… We simply want to give you permission to stop in the middle of your day to do something creative! We find, especially as moms, that being creative through a handmade craft is often stress-relieving and also gives you a sense of accomplishment because you actually have something to show for your time and hard work. (We know in parenting, that isn’t always the case!) Without further adieu, here’s what we have for you to make today! You’ll love it!

This is a very easy craft and requires NO sewing! (We know this will be great news for some of you.) It’s a beautiful, modern necklace that dresses up a simple shirt. Once you make one, you’ll want one in every color and one for all your favorite gals! I, Mary Beth, recently made one for my mom on her birthday. She LOVED it and has already received compliments! Of course, I had to make one for myself too. I already know what other colors I need next! We also will have a variation of the craft if you'd like to make a headband instead, or you could very easily adjust the instructions to make a brooch too!!

This tutorial is not original to us. In fact, we will show the pictures of the necklace we made, and then we’ll link you to the actual tutorial from Little Miss Momma. We want to give credit where credit is due!

Okay, ladies! Get the kids in bed, grab a cup of coffee & turn on some fun music. It’s time to get your craft on… Head over to the Pom Pom Bib Necklace tutorial! (Make sure to post a pic on our Facebook page when you're done!)

Here's the supplies list again:
Felt {approx 1 sq foot}
Cotton fabric in the color of your choice
Fabric scissors
Necklace chain, pearls, etc.
Hot Glue gun

Muffin Tin Monday {Rainbow Theme}

It's MTM again, yay!

Muffin Tin Mom gave some theme suggestions for the month of March-
Dr. Seuss, Green, Rainbows, St. Patrick's Day, Spring

This week we did a Rainbow theme!

orange:carrots & canteloupe, red:jello jigglers, yellow:banana
white:turkey/pasta/cheese kabobs,green:peas,blue/purple:blueberries w/yogurt

This was so fun to come up with a multicolor lunch, plus there's so many healthy foods that are so many different colors! Way to go, God! He's the Ultimate when it comes to creativity! Titus loved this lunch... I think the most unpopular was the orange cup, which is weird. But when there's so many fun options, something's bound to get left out! He went to town on this muffin tin! :) I'm thinking about not using the silicone muffin cups for a while, because they're pretty distracting to him when he's eating. He picks them up and makes a mess... Anyone else have this issue with a young toddler? Contemplating reintroducing them when he gets a little older. For now maybe we'll just stick to a plain muffin tin.

Muffin Tin Monday: {theme} the BOY!!!

Happy MTM Everybody! Just curious... have any of our blog followers tried a muffin tin lunch with their kids yet?? Leave us a comment and let us know!

Because we’ve been closely following the Celebrate the BOY month-long event over at Made by Rae & Dana MADE blogs, we’ve been consumed with all things BOY. We’ve both even been trying out their pants tutorials for our super-skinny boys. Thus, it made sense for us to carry the theme into this week’s Muffin Tin Monday! Here is what we both came up with for fun boy foods!

{Top row} Mud & Worms (choc pudding & gummy worms), Football-shaped Turkey Sandwiches, Gone Fishin’ (goldfish crackers, & pretzel/spaghetti noodle pole)
{Bottom row} A Blazing Campfire (pretzels & shredded cheese), Jello Cars, Banana Bug (pretzels, matchstick carrots & choc chips for details)

Banana Bug
If you can’t tell from the pictures, I (Mary Beth) totally had fun planning, making and serving this lunch to my little guy! He experienced many firsts eating this, but the best part for him was his discovery of JELLO! :) My favorite part of the lunch was the banana bug- I couldn’t get over how stinking cute it was!
Since my husband comes home for lunch just about every day, and our theme is all about boys, how could I leave him out of the fun? Yes, I made my manly husband a muffin tin lunch- and.he.loved.it! He told me again at dinner how fun lunch was!  Every man is a little boy at heart!
