Moms Finding Balance- Guest Post// Lindsay @ DandLs DangLs

{Welcome to our blog series of guest posts from other business-owning moms, to encourage all you other entrepreneurial moms who either already have your own business or those of you who wish you did! We want to inspire you to follow your dream and give you tips along the way for balancing motherhood, your business/creative passions, and the rest of your life! We certainly don’t claim to have all the answers, so that’s why we want to create a community of encouraging moms here on the Blue Ladybug Mamas blog! View the series intro post here!}

Today we welcome Lindsay, a mom of two beautiful toddlers who also creates beautiful jewelry! She is such an inspiration of a woman who is constantly trying to grow as a godly wife and mom even when life is difficult!

Hi! I'm Lindsay, the owner and creator at DandLs DangLs. But much more importantly I am a child of God, a wife to my perfect match, and a momma to two amazing babies. Wow, I am blessed.

Other than making jewelry, I have a tiny addiction to running. And netflix. And squishing and kissing my babies.

DandLs DangLs is my little bead and wire jewelry business. It all started just before babies came along. Money was as it always seems to be - tight. And I was craving some jewelry beyond the simple silver hoops I had from high school. My grandma-in-law, a fellow beaded jewelry fan, suggested making my own. I shared the idea with my sisters and for Christmas of 2007, they bought me starter tools and hooked me up with someone who taught me the basics.

It's been quite the adventure! But it hasn't passed far beyond a hobby right now. I prayerfully considered giving it up recently but decided to stick with it and feel at peace. The plan is to keep up with my little business until the kids are off to school, then pursue it full time. I can't hardly bear the thought of my babies aging even another day but I'll admit I'm a little excited to turn DandLs DangLs into so much more than it is!

A couple of valuable things I've learned -
1. Have a {flexible} schedule. Let's face it, life as a momma can be unpredictable at times. So be okay with focusing on your babes and being a little late to work. You're your own boss so you can! But be sure to have a schedule because without it you'll either work too much or too little.
2. Support. If my man didn't support this endeavor completely, it never would have happened. But at the same time I have to be careful that I don't let it interfere with our time together and ultimately damage our marriage and family. Nothing is worth that.
3. Never compare yourself to anyone else! You are unique, your family is unique, your business is unique. Allow yourself to be inspired by fellow mommy entrepreneurs like Laura and MaryBeth, then do your best and be confident in that!
Thanks so much, ladies, for allowing me to share!

Thanks Lindsay for the great reminder of what's really important!

I like how she mentioned having a flexible schedule. Too many interruptions to being a mother :-)

I like that she reminded me to not compare myself or my family. It's a lesson I've been learning and keep hearing about everywhere I turn! I love that God repeats Himself through so many people- it's like He's saying "Hey- don't miss this! I'll tell you ten times so you don't forget!"
